1964-12-09 - ELECTION CANVASS RETURNS - RES RESOLUTION CANVASSING RETURNS AND DECLARING RESULTS OF EI~CTiON STATE OF TEXAS COLE~TY OF BRAZORIA The~J~,/~C~ Council of the. City of Pearland, Te×as, convened in~ session at the City Hall _ with sald City on th~ 9th day of December, 1964, with the following members present, to-wit: John Kegley Mayor S. A. Shukanes Councilman Gene Sanders Councilman Tom Alexander Councilman Victor No!eh Councilman W. A. Councilman ~ade a motion that the resolution be adopted as read. Cbuu~ilma~~ seconded the motion for adoption of the resolution. The motion, carrying ~.~ith it the adoption of the resolution, pre- vailed by the following vote: AYES: £~a~or ~egley~ Councilen ~anmers Shukanes, Alexander and Nolen. NOES:None The Mayor thereupon announced that the motion _~a duly and lawfully ~ ' c~rr~_ed, and that the resolution had been duly and lawfully adopted. T~e resolution thus adopte~ follows: RESOLUTION CANVASSING RETD~NS AND DECLARING RESULTS OF ELECTION WHEREAS, there was held in the City of Pearland, Texas, on the ~th day of December, 1964, an election at which there were submitted to the duly qualified resident electors of said City, for their action thereupon, the names of all persons who had duly and legally qualified as candidates for the office of Councilman of the City of Pearland, Texas, for the purpose of electing a person to fill the vacancy in the office of Councilman of said City; and ~ ' ~ ~ there were cast at said election ~R~A~, of ~uhich number there were cast for each candidate the following votes: Received Votes Received Votes as shown in the official election returns heretofore submitted to this City Council and duly filed with the City Secretary; and WH]EREAS, said election was called and held in all respects under and in strict conformity with applicable constitutional and statutory provisions; Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TP~ CI'~Y OF PE~LAND, TEXAS: Section 1: That the election held in and throughout the City of Pearland, Texas, on the ~th day of December, 1964, which election is more particularly described in the preamble to this resolution, was duly called and notice thereof was given and said election was held under and in strict conformity with law; that only duly qualified resident electors of said City voted att said election; that due returns of said election have been made by the proper officers; that said election has resulted in ~,~ ~ receiving the highest number of votes as duly qualified candidate for the office of Councilman of said City. Section 21 That the said , having etect._on, is received the highest number of votes in said ~' hereby declared to have been elected to the office of Council- man of the City of Pearland, Texas, and upon qualifying for the office as required by law, he shall be duly elected, qualified and acting Councilman of the City of Pearland, Texas.
