1980-04-05 - ELECTION CANVASS RESULTS - RES RESOLUTION NO.R80-10 RESOLUTION AND ORDER DECLARING RESULTS OF CITY OFFICERS' ELECTION REGULAR AND SPECIAL, HELD IN THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, ON APRIL 5, 1980. THE STATE OF TEXAS CITY OF PEARLAND On this the 7th day of April, 1980, the City Council of the City of Pearland, Texas convened in Special called session open to the public at the regular meeting place thereof with the following members present, to-wit: Mayor Tom Reid Councilman Dennis Frauenberger Councilman Charles Mack Councilwoman Fran Coppinger C~ C~n-~c~ Councilman Morris Wilson City Secretary Dorothy L. Cook and the following absent: ~....~~ J~O ~-~ , constituting a quorum, and among other proceedings had were the foilwoing: Councilman Mack introduced a resolution and order and moved its adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilman W±lson , and the motion carrying with it the adoption of the resolution and order prevailed by the following vote: AYES: Co~nc~lm~:FraueD]:)~r~er~ ~o~n~il~n ~mck Councilman Wilson Councilwoman Coppinger & , NOES: None The resolution is as follows: There came on to be considered the returns of an election held on the 5th day of April, 1980, for the purpose of electing the hereinafter named officials, and it appearing from said returns, duly and legally made, that there were cast at said election 1458 valid and legal votes; that each of the candidates in said election received the following votes: FOR COUNCILMAN POSITION 1 NAME OF CANDIDATE TOTAL NUMBER OF VOTES RECEIVED PERCENT Dennis Frauenberger 681 47.1 Al Lentz 441 30.5 Tom Matlock 325 22.5 FOR COUNCILMAN POSITION 5 Morris S. Wilson 541 37.8 Benny J. Frank 371 25.9 Terry Gray 520 36.3 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS: That said election was duly called; that notice of said election was given in accordance with law; that said election was held in accordance with law; and that pursuant to valid ballots cast in the Election for Council Position ,, a runoff election becomes necessary between Dennis Frauenberger and A1 Lentz; and further, that pursuant to valid ballots cast in the Election for Council Position 5, a runoff election becomes necessary between Morris Wilson and Terry Gray, inasmuch as no one candidate for said offices received a majority of all votes cast in said election. Said runoff election shall be called and held pursuant to Section 5.06 of the Home Rule Charter of the City and applicable provisions of the Election Code of the State of Texas. It is further found and determined that in accordance with the order of this governing body, the Secretary posted written notice of the date, place, and subject of this meeting on the bulletin board located in the City Hall, a place convenient and readily accessible to the general public, and said notice having been so po§ted and remaining posted continuously for at least 72 hours preceding the scheduled time of said meeting. A copy of the return of said posting shall be attached to the minutes of this meeting and shall be made a part thereof for all intents and purposes.
