SPECIFIC USE NO. 21, REQUEST OF PEARLAND INDEPENDENT SCHOOL
DISTRICT, OWNER, FOR A SPECIFIC USE PERMIT FOR AGRICULTURAL
ANIMAL HUSBANDRY IN AN R-2 DISTRICT, ON THE FOLLOWING DE-
SCRIBED PROPERTY, TO -WIT:
4.824 ACRES OUT OF 83.3719 ACRES IN THE ACH & BRR
SURVEY AT THE L. W. MURDOCK SUBDIVISION, ABSTRACT 507,
BRAZORIA COUNTY, TEXAS. (3775 S. MAIN - NEW HIGH SCHOOL
SITE)
SPEAKING FOR THE PROPOSED REQUEST:
1. Dick Wagoner, Pearland Independent School District Board of
Trustees. Mr. Wagoner stated he felt the proposed agricul-
tural center would enhance the growth of the school district
and asked for the City's help in obtaining the specific use
permit.
2. Rodney Ordeneaux, Pearland Independent School District
Teacher. Mr. Ordeneaux, agricultural teacher, stated the
benefits to the students in having a program such as this on
the campus itself. In the past, land has been utilized at
other locations for these projects. Having it on the school
site will help him better supervise and assist students with
these projects which often result in scholarship money and
help keep at risk students in school.
SPEAKING AGAINST THE PROPOSED REQUEST:
No one spoke against the proposed request.
QUESTION AND ANSWER PERIOD:
Planning and Zoning Chairman Al Lentz informed that the Planning
and Zoning Commission, in a meeting scheduled immediately follow-
ing the Public Hearing, would consider this item on their agenda,
with a recommendation being made to Council.
