COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, HELD ON OCTOBER 1, 1990, AT 7:30 P. M. IN

The Hearing was called to order with the following present:

PURPOSE OF THE HEARING:
APPLICATION NO. 19, ALBERT M. HASTEN, AGENT FOR ANTHONY AND VIRGINIA VENTO, OWNERS,
FOR AN AMENDMENT TO THE LAND USE AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE FROM CLASSIFICATION
NEIGHBORHOOD SERVICE CENTER (NS) TO GENERAL BUSINESS (GB), ON THE FOLLOWING DE-
SCRIBED PROPERTY, TO -WIT:
Lots B and C, Block B of Shadycrest Subdivision
(2020 and 2022 E. Broadway (FM 518))
SPEAKING FOR THE PROPOSED REQUEST:
1. Mr. Anthony Vento, 2905 Shady Creek. Mr. Vento informed he
is the owner of the property that Mr. Hasten is interested
in purchasing to construct a brake and muffler shop which
will meet all City codes.
2. Mr. Albert Hasten, 3518 Meadowlark. Mr. Hasten introduced
photographs of buildings with similar type construction he
proposes to build on this site.
3. Ms. Susan Hilton. Ms. Hilton spoke about deed restrictions,
stating that a business of this type would not be detrimen-
tal to the area.
SPEAKING AGAINST THE PROPOSED REQUEST:
1. Mr. S. J. Dimaggio, 9535 Fairdale, Houston. Mr. Dimaggio
presented a petition with sixteen signatures stating opposi-
tion to the proposed zone change. Mr. Dimaggio also hand
delivered letters from Mr. Hardie Barr and Mr. and Mrs.
David Meadors stating their opposition to the proposed zone
change.
2. Mr. John West, 3404 Shadycrest. Mr. West voiced his opposi-
tion to the proposed zone change, citing the aesthetic
qualities of the Shadycrest subdivision.
3. Mr. Gene Wasek, 2001 Longherridge. Mr. Wasek spoke against
the proposed zone change stating his concern that once
rezoned the property could be used for other purposes by
future owners.
4. Mr. Bill Walsh, 2006 E. Broadway. Mr. Walsh stated he owns
six lots and two buildings in this area with future plans to
construct another three buildings and doesn't feel this type
of business would be an enhancement to the area.
5. Mr. Robert Eldred, 2007 Longherridge. Mr. Eldred stated he
felt the proposed zone change and subsequent construction of
a brake and muffler shop would be detrimental to the neigh-
borhood.
