A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PEARLAND, TEXAS, SUPPORTING THE CREATION OF A RURAL
TRANSIT DISTRICT IN FORT BEND COUNTY AND AUTHORIZING
THE SELECTION OF THE COMMISSIONERS COURT OF FORT
BEND COUNTY TO ACT AS THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE
DISTRICT.
WHEREAS, the Commissioners Court of Fort Bend County, Texas and the
governing body of each municipality in Fort Bend County must resolve to create and
establish the boundaries of a Rural Transit District to serve the general public in Fort
Bend County; and
WHEREAS, the Commissioners Court of Fort Bend County, Texas and the
governing body of each municipality in Fort Bend County must select not more than
nine elected officers to serve as the governing body of the Rural Transit District;
now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND,
TEXAS:
Section 1. Resolves to create a Rural Transit District, that is not supported
by any property or sales tax revenue of the City of Pearland, in Fort Bend County,
Texas, to serve within boundaries of Fort Bend County, and selects the
Commissioners Court of Fort Bend County to act as the governing body of the
District.

Creation of a Rural Transit District (RTD) in Fort Bend County
according to Chapter 458, Section 458.001 - Section 458.008 of the
Transportation Code
The following steps must be taken in order to create a Rural Transit
District.
.Denial of inclusion of FBC in any existing RTD: Connect Transit, Brazos
Valley Transit, Colorado Valley Transit, Golden Crescent Transit
.Set RTD Conference date - February 24, 2005
.Post Conference date on Commissioners Court agenda
.Publish public notice 30 days in advance
,Notify each municipality of Conference date and purpose
.Cities appoint Conference representative
.Conference must include documentation to support creation; must identify
boundaries of RTD; obtain consensus vote of City representatives in
attendance; set public heating date to announce designation and boundaries
of RTD;
.Publish public hearing notice for two consecutive weeks
.Hold public heating - March 22, 2005
*Cities to adopt resolutions in support of a RTD and to appoint the
governing body of the RTD
.Commissioners Court (FBC) adopts resolution establishing the boundaries
and governing body of the RTD
.Commissioners Court (FBC) sends notification to Texas Department of
Transportation establishing Fort Bend County as a RTD
