1965-10-07 CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MINUTESMINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, HELD ON OCTOBER 7, 1965 AT 7:30 P. M. A special meeting of the City Council of the City of Pearland__ was called to order by Mayor Kegley at 7:30 P. M. in the City"Hall on October 7, 1965s with the following present: Mayor John G. Kegley i Councilman Victor A. Nolen. Councilman Basil L. Cogbill Councilman Steven'A. Shukanes Public Works Director Escue V. Harris City Secretary W. A. McClellan Visitors: Frank Barringer, David L. Smith, Jr., Tom Alexander, H. W. Raney, Earl Raney, and Orlen O'Day. Mayor Kegley stated the purpose of the meeting was to open bids to de- termine the amount of the city's participation in the cost of oversizing some of the water lines to be installed in the Willowerest subdivision and any other business that might properly be brought before the council. Bids submitted as follows: Kay Service Company Base Bid $5,559.21 Alternate Bid $7,386.78 Cashierts Check $370.00 Dalsco, Inc. Base Bid $6,009.60 Alternate Bid $8,935.90 Cashier's Check $450.00 OtDay Drilling Co. Base Bid $60272.70 Alternate Bid $9,485.10 Cashierts Check $500.00 A motion was made by Councilman Shukanes, seconded by Councilman Nolen that the bids be accepted and forwarded to the City Engineer for tabulation and recommendations for the cityts share of the cost. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen voted "aye" with no "noes." A motion was made by Councilman Nolen, semonded by Councilman Shukanes that a Patrolman be hired on a temporary basis in order that other Police personnel can take vacations, salary to be on the basis of a Patrolman base pay. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen voted "aye" with no "noes." A motion was made by Councilman Shukanes, seconded by Councilman Nolen that a Radar Unit be leased for a period of 3 months, not to exceed $100.00 per month cost. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen voted "aye" with no "noes." Meeting adjourned at 8:25 P. M.
