MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
`CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, HELD ON AUGUST` 26, 1965 AT 7:30 P. M.
A regular meeting of the;Pearland City Council was called to order by
Mayor Kegley °in the City Hall at 7:30 P. M.= August 26, 1965, with the
following present:

A motion was made by Councilman Shukanes, seconded by Councilman Sanders
that minutes of regular meeting held on August 12, 1965 be approved.
WHEREUPON, the question was -asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen
present vlbted"aye" with no "noes."
A motion was made by Councilman Shukanes, seconded by Councilman Cogbill
that the following invoices and salaries be paid with the exception of
Check No. 724 to the Utility Supply Company and Check No. 729 to Gene
E. Sanders in the amount of $20.00 which he refused to accept, that City
void check and thank Councilman Sanders for his service on the Equaliza-
tion Board. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried,
all Councilmen present voted "aye" with no "noes."

Mr. Vernon Halik, acting as spokesman for the Drainage Commissioners,
briefly outlined.their position as to the drainage of the Westminister
Subdivision and gave the City Council a copy of their minutes dated
December 18, 1963 to. be placed in the city files. They were re-
assured by Mayor Kegley that the City would not agree to any subdivision
plats until the Drainage District had first checked out and approved
the plat as indicated by their signatures thereon. He further stated
that the City would, in the future, require a notice from the Drainage
District Commissioners on any problem that concerns the City, the
City to do likewise for the Drainage District Commissioners.
Mayor Kegley appointed Councilman Shukanes and Councilman Nolen as
a Committee to go with him to a meeting at the Friendswood City Hall
on Thursday Night September 2, 1965 at 7:30 P. M.
Motion made by Councilman Shukanes seconded by Councilman Cogbill to
have the Secretary request bids for the grading and drainage of the
300 ' section of road be McGinnis Drive and Longwood Drive.
WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen
voted "aye" with no "noes."
Motion made by Councilman Nolen, seconded by Councilman Shukanes
that Change Order No. 2,, McCarty Construction Company be approved.
WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen
present voted "aye" with no "noes."
Motion made by .Councilman Shukanes, seconded by Councilman Cogbill that
that the Council authorize the Mayor and the City Secretary to sign a
contract agreement with the A. T. & S. F. Railway Company for a permit
to cross their right-of-way with two water line and to pay them the
sum of $50.00. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried
all,Councilmen present voted "aye" with no "noes."

Councilman Nolen reported that he was still trying to work out some-
thing on the water line project for the McGinnison Subdivision
and should have complete report for the next regular Council meeting.
Mr. Frank Barringer, developer of Willowcrest Subdivision, appeared
before the Council to see what the City wanted him to do before going
ahead on a plat for the second section of the Willowcrest Subdivision.
He was informed that the policy of the City was the same as before and that
it would be necessary for him to get approval of the Drainage Commissioners
before the City would consider it.
