1965-07-29 CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MINUTESMINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, HELD ON JULY 292 1965 AT 7:30 P. M.
A special meeting of the City Council of the City of Pearland was
called to order by Mayor Kegley in the City Hall at 7:30 P. M. July
290 1965, with the following present:
Mayor John G. Kegley
Councilman Basil L. Cogbill
Councilman Joe Dan Calvin
Councilman Gene E. Sanders
Councilman Steven A. Shukanes
City Secretary W. A. McClellan
Councilman Victor A. Nolen (Absent)
Visitors: John Alexander, Hubert Gentry, Jr., Dr. D. R. Armbruster,
Thomas P. Alexander, Clifford B. Renegar, David Gooch;and Paul F.
Ferguson.
Mayor Kegley stated that the purpose of the meeting was for the City
Council to meet with representatives of the Alexander Estate for the
purpose of settling differences on an easement to cross their property
for a sewage trunk line, to decide on a site for sewage disposal plant
and for any other business that might properly be brought before the
Council.
Mayor Kegley acknowledged letters from Mr. David A. Stokes, Director
of the Regency Park Civic Club and Congressman Jack Brooks.
Motion made by Councilman Calvin, seconded by Councilman Sanders that
Dalsco, Inc. contract for work in McGinnins Subdivision be amended with
a Cha!rder giving them authority to run a extension of sewage
�ine the residence of Jim Taylor, WHEREUPON, the question was
asked. and the motion carried, all Councilmen present voted "aye" with
no "noes."
Councilman Gene E. Sanders was appointed as an alternate member of
the Equalization Board for 1965.
A motion was made by Councilman Sanders, seconded by Councilman
Calvin that the motion made on April 29, 1965, which reads as follows
be rescinded:
"Motion made by Councilman Nolen,seeonded by Councilman Calviw that
.the City Engineer be instructed to design a sewage treatment plant
on our present sewage site to serve the people of Pearland townsite."
And the following be substituted therefor:
That being assured by the City Engineer and the City Fiscal Agent
that sufficient funds are available for land purchase, sewage trunk
line, sewage treatment plant construction, roads, road right-of-ways,
,bridges and engineering as well as all appurtenances required for
the operation of the sewage plant, that the City accept the proposal
of the Alexanders dated May 28, 1965, subject to the review and
approval of the City Attorney. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and
the motion carried, all Councilman present voting "aye" with no "noes."
Councilman Cogbill riot -present at this time.
Meeting adjourned at 9:30 P. M.
