Mayor Kegley stated that the purpose of the meeting was to let the
sewage line contract for the Westminister Subdivision, between Block
2 and 3 of the McGinnis Subdivision and the extension on F. M. 518 west.
Also, to check out finalization of water line plans for the old townsite
and other business that might properly be brought before the Council.
Councilman Nolen specifically requested the Engineer to state why they
had chosen the street for the sewage lines in Westminister Subdivision
rather than a 10 ft. easement in the rear. The Engineer stated that
because of the narrow easement in the rear of the lots that already
contained a gas line, telephone cable and electric line poles, that

Motion made by Councilman Nolen, seconded by Councilman es hatt
the recommendation made by the Engineers to use clay pipe as the best
material for the sewage lines in Westminister Subdivision be accepted,
and that Dalsco, Inc. be awarded the contract for this job as low
bidder. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all
Councilman voted "aye" with no "noes." SEE APPENDED LETTER 5/10/65
Motion made by Councilman Sanders, seconded by Councilman Nolen that
Walsh & McLaren, in conjunction with the City Attorney, be authorized
to advertise for bids for water lines in the old water district and
adjoining areas as per their drawing "Job No. 83." WHEREUPON, the
question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen voted "aye"
with no "noes."
Motion made by Councilman Cogbill, seconded by Councilman Calvin that
Walsh & McLaren be authorized to advertise for bids to plug the old
well No. I and drill a new one on the City Hall site. WHEREUPON, the
question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen voted "aye"

After due discussion Councilman Sanders made a motion, sec ed by
Shukanes that in view of the many indeterminate figures'whe proposition
of building Sewage Plant No. 2 on the Settegast land that Sewage Plant ;
Site No. 2 be located approximately in the position as shown on the map
which publicized in the recent bond issue. This based on the fact that:
necessary legal instruments assure the City of Pearland access to the
plant via what is commonly known as Whitehead Road. Also, that a service
road paralled to Clear Creek on the north side be obtained with the
further provision that Drainage District No. 4 acknowledge to the Council,;
by whatever means it deems necessary, that it is willing and able to
erect a bridge across Clear Creek on the north end of Whitehead Road.
WHEREUPON, the question was asked and Councilman Sanders and Councilman
Shukanes voted "aye," Councilman Nolen, Councilman Calvin and Councilman
Cogbill voted "no." Motion failed. :t
Motion made by Councilman Nolen, seconded by Councilman Cogbill that
M. N. McGlathery be instructed to contact the Settegast Estate and to
offer a purcase price of $3,000.00 per acre for eight acres of land,
with the City to have egress and ingress. Also, the Settegast Estate

to recognize Whitehead Road as a public right-of-way and to state
that theywould not protest this as a site for a sewage treatment plant.
WHEREUPON, the question was asked and Councilman Nolen, Councilman
Cogbill and Councilman Calvin voted "aye," with Councilman Sanders
and Councilman Shukanes voted "no." Motion carried.
Meeting adjourned at 10:30 P. M.
