1965-02-26 CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES160 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, SPECIAL MEETING HELD ON FEBRUARY 26, 1965 at 7:30 P. M. A special meeting of the Pearland City Council was called to order by Mayor Kegley at 7:30 P. M. in the City Hall on February 26, 1965, with the following city officials and visitors present: Mayor Councilman Councilman Councilman Councilman councilman City Secretary John G.Kegley Lloyd C. Hawkins Thomas P. Alexander Steven A. Shukanes Gene E. Sanders Victor A. Nolen W. A..McClellan Visitors: Vachel Cotharn, representing Badger Manufacturing Company - Louie Saur, representing the Palm Center Dodge, Inc. - George Powell, representing Rockwell Manufacturing Company. Mayor Kegley explained that the purpose of the meeting was to open sealed --bids as advertised for on a police car with radio, and for 100 or more -water meters to be purchased during the ensuing year, with a dozen or more to be delivered as needed. Water meter bids were as follows: (less fittings) Badger.Manuf`acturing Company (check attached) $ 29.95 Neptune Meter Company (no check attached) 29.72 Rockwell Manufacturing Company (check attached) 31.80 Motion made by Councilman Alexander that bid of the Neptune Meter Company be rejected and that the low bid of the Badger Manufacturing Company be accepted, subject to Engineer's approval., seconded by Councilman Shukanes. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen voted "aye" with no "noes." Police car with radio bids were as follows: Kliesing Motor Company (no check attached) Alvin Equipment Company (check attached) Alvin Equipment Company (check attached) General Electric Radio $704.00 Motorola Radio 772.00 Comco Radio 667.22 Palm Center Dodge Company (no check attached) Bud Brown Ford Company (no check) Radio $704.00 $ 2,345.37 2,614.70 3,054.90 2,087.88 Motion made by Councilman Alexander that the Council study bids and decide on a car in as much as an emergency exists, that Council forego the requirement of an attached check, subject to City Attorneys opinion. Seconded by Councilman Shukanes. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilmen voted "aye" with no "noes.' Secretary requested to consult with City Attorney on the above motion. If necessary, to readvertise and secure seperate bids for the car and the radio. Motion made by Councilman Shukanes, seconded by Councilman Alexander that the police car now in service be retained for use by the Police Department with expressed d6sire of budgeting for another police car in the next fiscal budget at which time it would then be traded in. Also, the Civil Defense car now being used by the Police. Department be returned to the City Secretary for the use of City personnel and Civil Defense personnel. WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all Councilman voted "aye" with no "noes." Meeting adjourned at 9:00 P. M. Minutes approved as read and/or corrected 1965.
