1965-02-11 CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING MINUTES. 51 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEAR LAND HELD ON FEBRUARY 11, 1965. The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Pearland was called to order by Mayor Kegley at 7:30 P. WHEREUPON the question was asked and the motion carried, all Council' present voting "aye" with no "noes." men Mayor Kegley read a letter from the Houston Lighting and Power Company transmitting their gross receipts check in the amount $ ,9,297.54• Mayor Kegley acknowledged receipt of a petition presented by a group of home and lot owners in-Westminister and Nottingham Subdivisions requesting sewer service -as soon as possible. Mayor Kegley appointed a Committee of Councilman Sanders and Hawkins to meet with the City Engineer and make a study bf the two plans for sewer service to Westminister and Nottingham Subdivisions. This Committee to report back within one week, if possible. H. B. Thornton requested the Council to -study the possibility of installing a stop sign for east bound traffic .on Walnut Street just off the intersection of the Manvel Highway (518) and Walnut Street. Also, speed limit signs be posted along the streets in their vicinity. Mayor Kegley requested the Sign Committee to investigate this matter. Motion made by Councilman Nolen, seconded by Councilman Shukanes that Woody Road be shelled to the R. L. Hutson home in Mimosa Acres Sub- divi ion. Yost made a special request that the City Council do every- thing possible to have sewage improvements ready for our school opening next term. A motion was made by Councilman Nolen, seconded by Shukanes that the City furnish travel expense for a member of our civil defense to attend the meeting in Austin on the 15th and 16th o Feb ar,yy WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, all/ �1���m��ding "aye" with no "noes." ORDINANCE NO. 108 READING IN PART AS FOLLOWS: - AN ORDINANCE PRESCRIBING THE PROCEDURE FOR CANDIDATES TO FILE FOR THE OFFICES OF MAYOR, ALDERMAN OR COUNCILMAN AND OTHER OFFICES `FOR THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS; PROVIDING FOR ELECTION OFFICERS, PLACE AND MANNER OF HOLDING CITY ELECTIONS AND PROVIDING FOR NOTICE. (This Ordinance is of Record in full in Ordinance Book of the City of Pearland, Texas.) The City Secretary was instructed to write a letter to the Commissionerts Court requesting permission to move the office of the Justice of the Peace to the City Hall, Also, a letter requesting permission to install a base radio station in the jail building here in Pearland. A motion was made by Councilman Nolen, seconded by Councilman Sanders that former police officer James McLaren, who was employed by the City from April 20, 1964 to February 4, 1965, be paid for four holidays that he worked and pro rata vacation time of nine da WHEREUPON, the question was asked and the motion carried, a11/NR11men voting "aye" with no "noes."
