A regular meeting of the Pearland City Council was held on Thursday
January 142 1965'3,
at the City Hall, 14429 Texas Avenue, with the
following city officials and guests in attendance.

as to whether or not she could get a sewer connection to the line
that was being installed back of her property by the developers of
Sherwood Subdivision. Mayor Kegley

The sewage treatment plant survey by the Texas State Department
of Health, dated November 19, 1964, received and reviewed by the
Council.

Robert I. Ellis appeared before the Council with a request that
part of the dedicated street that runs along the south line of his
property be opened and hard surfaced from Telephone Road to approximately
50 ft. beyond a new building under construction. This request was
referred to the Street and Bridge Committee.
City Secretary requested to write a letter of thanks to Mrs. A. S.
Isaacson and Mrs. Steven A. Shukanes for their work on the Texas
Retardation Study Commission.
Councilman Nolen reported on the trip to Austin with City Engineer
Walsh to discuss with Mr. Riddle of the Water Pollution Control.
Board our plans and requirements. They were assured that the
plans discussed met with their approval.
City Engineer Walsh reported that he had met with school officials and
explained to them the City's plan for water and sewer service for their
area.
Mayor Kegley reported that he had signed Form 441, Assurance of
Compliance With The Department of Health, Education and Welfare
Regulation Under Title VI of The Civil Rights Act of 1964, in order
that we would be eligible for Federal Grants on our sewage plant
construction program.
Secretary instructed to check with Fire Marshal regarding arson reward
posters and to make two copies of Ordinance No. 43 for the Committee
of Hawkins, Rau and Kegley so that the sanitation laws of the City
can be checked into.
City Attorney Jack Harrison presented the Council with a map of
the "Pearland Old Settler's Cemetary," and requested certain informa-
tion which Council will furnish to him at a later meeting.
The matter of the Base Radio Station for the Pearland Police Depart-
ment was referred to a Committee of Hawkins, Alexander and Casey.
Mayor Kegley stated to Council that since the police were getting
a Base Radio Station it would be necessary to move the Corporation
Court to the offices of the City Hall for an indefinite period until
proper facilities are available. This move would be made on
February 1, 1965.
A letter from the Houston Natural Gas Company regarding gas street
lights was handed to the Street Lighting Committee for study and
recommendation.
Mayor Kegley appointed Lloyd C. Hawkins to serve -on all committee
assignments in place of Gene E. Sanders during the month of February.
This was at the request of Mr. Sanders at a previous meeting.
Motion made by Nolen, seconded by Shukanes that Frank Phillips be
given the usual $25.00 per month raise for having passed the probation
period, also, an additional $25.00 per month for being promoted to
Sergeant. All Councilmen voted "aye" with no "noes." Motion carried.
Mayor Kegley requested the Sign Committee to start planning signs
for directions to the City Hall and Corporation Court.. Also, that
the Park Committe start their meetings.
Mayor Kegley appointed an action committee of Councilman Nolen
and Planning Committee member Sims on the Building Code Committee.
Council members instructed City Secretary to show the Code numbers
on all check list in the future. Also, to write a letter to the
Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railroad regarding the proposed Orange
Street crossing.
Motion made by Shukanes, seconded by Hawkins that the restrictions
on Check No. 15 in a previous motion be rescinded. All Councilmen
voted "aye" with no "noes." Motion carried.

Motion made by Nolen, seconded by Shukanes that the sum of $1,793.00
be paid Dalsco, Inc. for the lift station located at the corner of
Walnut Street and F. M. 518 to serve Sherwood Subdivision as previously
agreed to in minutes of October 29, 1964. All Councilmen voted
"aye" with no "noes." Motion carried.
Meeting adjourned at 10:10 P. M.
