R2017-218 2017-12-11RESOLUTION NO. R2017-218 A Resolution and Order of the City Council of the City of Pearland, Texas, casting votes for candidates for the Fort Bend County Appraisal District Board Of Directors for the 2018-2019 term. WHEREAS, V.T.C.A. TX Code, Section 6.03(g) provides that the governing body of each taxing unit is entitled to vote for members of the Board of Directors of the County Appraisal District, and shall determine its vote by Resolution and submit to the Chief Appraiser by December 15, 2017; and WHEREAS, the City of Pearland is entitled to vote and desires to cast votes for the positions to be filled on the Board of Directors of the Fort Bend County Appraisal District; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS: I . That the Official Ballot for the candidates of the Board of Directors of the Fort Bend County Appraisal District, shown as Exhibit "A", is attached hereto and made a part hereof for all purposes. II. That said Official Ballot indicates thereon the number of votes for each candidate cast by the City Council of the City of Pearland. III. That the City Secretary is hereby authorized and directed to submit the Official Ballot containing the votes cast by the City Council of the City of Pearland, Texas, and a certified copy of this Resolution to the Chief Appraiser of Fort Bend County by December 15, 2017. 1 RESOLUTION NO. COKER CITY ATTORNEY TOM EID MAYOR 1/11/1111111‘‘‘‘‘ 2 Jurisdiction: Election Ballot Resolution No. R2017-218 Exhibit "A" 2018-2019 Board of Directors Fort Bend Central Appraisal District Total Voting Entitlement: 9 City of Pearland Section 6.03 of the Texas Property Tax Code requires five directors to be appointed by the taxing units that participate in the district as provided by this section. Members of the board of directors other than a county assessor -collector serving as a nonvoting director serve two-year terms beginning on January 1 of even -numbered years. The candidates listed below were duly nominated by the voting governing bodies and now stand for election for the five (5) positions. Only one ballot per entity may be submitted. Schwer Paul Stamatis Rhonda Zacharias Heather Zayas Votes Cast: 9 Cast your votes for the candidate(s) of your choice and return the ballot alonj with a sij ned resolution of the board vote, to the Fort Bend Central Appraisal District before December 15, 2017. Section 6.03 (j) Before October 30, the chief appraiser shall prepare a ballot, listing the candidates whose names were timely submitted under Subsections (g) and, if applicable, (h) or (i) alphabetically according to the first letter in each candidate's surname, and shall deliver a copy of the ballot to the presiding officer of the governing body of each taxing unit that is entitled to vote. (k) The governing body of each taxing unit entitled to vote shall determine its vote by resolution and submit it to the chief appraiser before December 15. The chief appraiser shall count the votes, declare the five candidates who receive the largest cumulative vote totals elected, and submit the results before December 31 to the governing body of each taxing unit in the district and to the candidates. For purposes of determining the number of votes received by the candidates, the candidate receiving the most votes of the conservation and reclamation districts is considered to have received all of the votes cast by conservation and reclamation districts and the other candidates are considered not to have received any votes of the conservation and reclamation districts. The chief appraiser shall resolve a tie vote by any method of chance.. Page 3 of 11
