R2004-210 12-20-04 RESOLUTION NO. R2004-210 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS, SUPPORTING THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD'S APPLICATION TO THE TEXAS WATER DEVELOPMENT BOARD FOR A FLOOD PROTECTION PLANNING GRANT. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS: WHEREAS, the City of Friendswood intends to submit an application to the Texas Water Development Board for a Flood Protection Planning Grant; and WHEREAS, the City of Pearland recognizes the flooding problem which exists within the Cowarts Creek Watershed and that planning efforts are needed to support mitigation of these problems. Further, the City recognizes increased growth in the watershed will only increase problems downstream without proper planning; and WHEREAS, the Flood Protection Planning Grant will assist in studying the Cowarts Creek Watershed; and WHEREAS, participants in this study will include, the City of Friendswood, the City of Pearland, Brazoria County, Galveston County, Brazoria Drainage District No. 4, and Galveston County Consolidate Drainage District; and WHEREAS, the Texas Water Development Board Flood Protection Planning Grant funds up to 50% of the cost of the study; and WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to authorize the City Manager or his designee, to execute all documents related to the City's participation in this study. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PEARLAND, TEXAS: Section 1. The City Council hereby supports the City of Friendswood in the submittal of a grant request to the Texas Water Development Board for flood protection RESOLUTION NO. R2004-210 planning. Section 2. The City of Pearland City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager or his designee, to execute all documents related to the City's participation in this study. Section 3. The City Council hereby acknowledges its intent to commit local matching funds in cash towards this project. 2004. Section 4.
